About Us
Our Story
Since the moment we opened our doors in 1985, Capital Medical Center (Capital) has been on a mission to improve the lives of our community by providing high quality patient care. Today, Capital Medical Center is a unique community-based health care system with a reputation for compassion and integrity.
As a 107-bed hospital, Capital serves patients from throughout the South Sound and provides care in more than 20 specialties and subspecialties. Our medical staff works as a team with our 700 employees in caring for approximately 5,000 inpatients and 25,000 outpatients a year.
Our partnership with The University of Washington Medicine enhances Capital Medical Center’s focus on patients by adding UW Medicine’s quality and safety expertise as an additional resource for local clinicians. By working together, the two organizations hope to improve access to care and keep patients close to home.

UW Medicine Community Health Partner
As a UW Medicine Community Health Partner, Capital Medical Center has a close working relationship with UW Medicine to advance patient care in our community.
UW Medicine and LifePoint Health created a public-private partnership to bring the strengths of the two organizations to communities in Washington, Alaska and Idaho. The partnership will operate community hospitals or other healthcare entities as UW Medicine Community Health Partners. Working together, LifePoint Health operates and manages the facility and UW Medicine provides nationally recognized expertise in clinical care, patient safety and quality improvement.
World-class care with a local touch
Our partnership enhances Capital Medical Center’s focus on patients by adding UW Medicine’s quality and safety expertise as an additional resource for local clinicians. By working together, the two organizations hope to improve access to care and keep patients close to home.
When care is needed outside of the community, our partnership allows us to securely share electronic health records and enables real-time clinician-to-clinician dialogue. This means we can work with the top medical experts who can provide specialized consultations and, if necessary, facilitate the transfer of patients to the best available care while staying connected locally.
